Starting My Own Business
It began in a way that I’m sure you can relate to. Like so many people, I wanted to earn a living on my own terms.
Of course, before I made the leap to self-employment, I had quite a few heart-to-heart discussions with my wife about the opportunities and risks involved with working for myself. Sue was more than supportive. She believed in me, and that gave me the extra courage I needed to take action. In August of 2000, I founded Lahey Consulting, LLC an executive search firm and human resource consultancy.
Sales & Marketing Results
During my first year or so in business, I developed a highly effective sales and marketing approach that helped me acquire some exciting, high profile clients. By the end of 2001, I had generated a healthy six figure profit. I was on the right track.
My business has continued to grow and develop since those early days. I’ve become a consultant to organizations throughout the country, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. I know that I’ll never stop learning, and I’m grateful for the opportunities that self-employment has brought to my life.
As much as I like working with large companies, I’ve found that I get a more personal sense of fulfillment helping self-employed professionals to solve the sales and marketing problems that are holding them back. I can relate to their challenges more directly and offer solutions based on what I’ve personally experienced as a small business owner over the past thirteen years.

I genuinely admire people who have the courage to start their own business — and I enjoy helping them to achieve success on their own terms. In my experience, they need practical, real-world content and advice. This site is here to provide guidance and support based on proven sales and marketing principles, not theory.
